Day 9- Sacsayhuaman

Today we enjoyed a relaxed morning playing in the courtyard. Max found a perfect perch to warm up in the morning sun.

We had great ambitions of climbing up to Sacsayhuaman, but when I heard that it's only 10 soles to take a taxi to the path, I was sold. It was beautiful up there with amazing views of Cusco.

Sacsayhuaman was built by an Incan king who designed it to look like the head of a puma. This zigzag wall represents the teeth.

Some of the stones used weigh up to 300 tons. I tried to get Max to stand by the wall for perspective, but he wasn't too interested in standing still.

As soon as Max hit out to run around he spotted a very inviting staircase. We had been climbing up and down staircases for an hour, I was not interested in anymore.

Luckily he spotted some alpacas off in the distance. I think he thought they were big dogs... He ran across the field barking at them.

The alpacas did not seem the least bit concerned about the screaming child headed straight for them.

Although I didn't let Max get too close, I wasn't about to carry him around covered in stinky llama spit for the rest of the day.
